Bicester boxer Scott James proves cut above in latest professional victory

SCOTT James was delighted with the way he handled his latest professional challenge.

The Bicester BC super welterweight beat Chris Jenkinson on points at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon.

Despite it being James’ tenth professional fight, it was his first over eight rounds.

And he was thrilled with the way he performed.

He said: “I am so pleased with this victory.

“This was a massive step up to eight-round level against a great fighter in Chris Jenkinson.

“I had a massive following and the pressure was really on.

“I’ve had some great sparring in the lead up to this fight and it really told.”

Bicester BC head coach, Daza Usher, added: “I feel he is improving with each contest.

“This year will be a big one for Scott.

“Now that he has completed an eight-round contest we’ll be looking to push him on to championship level.”

A hook and cross combination saw James end the first round strongly, before he unleashed several heavy shots in the second.

Full of confidence, the Bicester fighter landed a right uppercut in the third, before continuing to be the aggressor in the four rounds to follow.

Both boxers looked to seal victory and a left hook from Jenkinson caught James, who responded with an unrelenting attack as he was awarded a 79-74 victory.
