Swindon boxer Kelvin Young has been forced to withdraw from Neilson Boxing’s Homecoming show due to medical grounds but has vowed to return in the near future.
Young admitted he was “gutted” to be missing out on the show which takes place at Play Football on April 15th but says his big comeback has been delayed rather than cancelled.
The British Boxing Board of Control insisted Young withdrew from the fight after an MRI scan showed “some movement” from previous scans and will make a decision on the Swindon boxer’s future next month.
Young though does not expect the board to force him to quit the sport and will stay in training in the meantime with a view to returning to the ring later this year.
Your Sport Swindon’s Steve Butt caught up with Young at the press launch for The Homecoming show on Saturday.
