Sean Bruce is the new British Flyweight Champion after a standout performance that saw him capture one of the most respected titles in domestic boxing.

In a fight that had plenty on the line, Bruce delivered when it mattered most. He showed composure, sharp boxing, and the ability to handle pressure across the rounds, ultimately doing enough to secure the Lonsdale Belt and announce himself as a serious force in the division.

The British flyweight title has a strong history, with many former holders going on to achieve success at European and world level. That context makes this win even more important. It is not just a title, it is often the platform that pushes fighters into the next stage of their careers.

Bruce came into the bout as the challenger, but fought with the confidence of a champion. He controlled key moments, picked his shots well, and showed the kind of resilience needed in a close, competitive contest. It was a well-rounded performance and one that proved he belongs at the top end of the domestic scene.

Winning this title changes everything. It brings new opportunities, bigger fights, and more attention. Whether it is defending the belt against top British contenders or looking towards European honours, Bruce now has options.

More than anything, this was a moment built on years of work. British titles are earned the hard way, and Bruce’s performance reflected that.

Sean Bruce is no longer chasing the division. He is leading it as the British Flyweight Champion.

Set for 28th February at the iconic York Hall, London, this is a classic British title fight in every sense — two hungry fighters, no champion, and everything on the line.

A Career-Defining Night

For both men, this bout represents far more than a belt. The British title has long been a proving ground for elite domestic talent, and at flyweight level it often acts as a springboard to European and world honours.

Clegg brings momentum, confidence and growing reputation, while Bruce arrives with sharp intent and the belief that this is his moment to take centre stage. Styles make fights — and this one promises intensity from the opening bell.

York Hall. British Title. No Margins.

York Hall has hosted some of the most memorable nights in British boxing history, and this contest has all the ingredients to add another chapter. The intimacy of the venue, combined with the significance of the title, guarantees a hostile, electric atmosphere.

With the belt vacant, there is no safety net. No defending champion. No excuses. One night. One winner.

The Road Ahead

Victory doesn’t just crown a new British Flyweight Champion — it reshapes the division. The winner instantly becomes a name to watch on the national stage, with bigger opportunities firmly within reach.

Alfie Clegg vs Sean Bruce.
British Flyweight Title.
February 28th. York Hall.

Professional boxing promoter and manager Mark Neilson has been inducted into the esteemed Ex-Boxers Association Hall of Fame in the Promoter category.

Swindonian Mark, the son of former Swindon professional boxer Eddie Neilson, was honoured at a glittering ceremony in Cardiff for his significant contributions to the sport.

His promotional and management career is regarded as a shining example of dedication to the sport, following in the footsteps of his father, who fought legendary boxers Frank Bruno and Joe Bugner.

Mark has been a pivotal figure in the boxing world and is now one of the most prolific boxing promoters in the UK, having promoted numerous high-profile bouts and managing the careers of many rising stars in the industry.

From starting at Swindon’s Premier Club leisure centre to now selling out the iconic York Hall in London on a regular basis, Mark’s journey has seen him rise to be one of the UK’s top promoters, and he has promoter numerous titles including a IBO World Title earlier this year,

Mark paid tribute to his father, whose own remarkable career laid the foundation for Mark’s journey into the world of boxing promotion and management.

“I am incredibly honoured to be inducted into the Ex-Boxers Association Hall of Fame,” said Mark.

“Boxing has always been in my blood; I was in a gym from a six-year-old and fought numerous bouts as an amateur myself.

“Because of that, I understand boxing and more importantly boxers, this enables me to put on some of the best shows in the UK and look after the growing stable of talented boxers I manage, and to be recognised alongside so many legends of the sport is a true privilege.

“My father’s career inspired me from a young age, and this moment is as much a tribute to him as it is to the work I’ve done in boxing.”

Eddie Neilson said he was immensely proud of his son’s achievements and added: “Mark has dedicated his life to boxing, and it’s wonderful to see his hard work and passion for the sport being recognised at such a prestigious level.” Eddie remarked.

The Ex-Boxers Association Hall of Fame induction is reserved for those who have made an indelible impact on the sport, both inside and outside of the ring. Mark Neilson now joins the ranks of boxing’s elite, further cementing his legacy as one of the sport’s leading figures.

Roberts became the first fighter from Swindon to ever win an English title as he defeated Ben Lilley at The O2 to move to 11-0 in his career and he claimed the vacant English title and defended his Commonwealth Silver title.

Roberts said that a few weeks on the win had just started to sink him and helped him to realise what is possible.

He said: “It feels great to have won the belt, it took a little while to sink in, but in the last few days I have just got my belt and that has started to drive home and spark something inside of me.

“I joked about sleeping with it [the belt] last night, but it is currently sat on the kitchen side for everyone to see.

“The next move is going to be to defend that English belt one time and then go for the British title next year.

“After that last fight, it was a lot more publicised and it feels like everyone is starting to see what I can do and I am starting to gain a lot more respect locally and nationally.

“It was nice to fight outside of Swindon and be in The O2, that is the kind of arena that I would like to headline one day eventually.

“It has always been a massive dream of mine ever since I was six that I could headline a big stadium and now I am really starting to believe that I can actually achieve that and it is going to be interesting to see what I can do with that new belief in me.”

He said: “Everyone is starting to want a piece now that I have started to gain some belts and that brings a lot of attention with people wanting to try and get to you.

“This was all part of the plan when I turned pro, we had a three-year plan and so far we have nailed that exactly on point of where I wanted to be and we will keep going.”

Hard-hitting Oluwatosin ‘Tosin’ Kejawa and 2022’s Commonwealth Silver Medallist Elizabeth Oshoba, retained their unbeaten records as they both dealt with their respective opponents with ease.

Neilson Boxing’s undefeated Nigerian boxers continue to impress after delivering impressive performances at London’s iconic York Hall last week.

Super-Middleweight Kejawa, now 8-0 (5 KO’s)) displayed a mature and composed performance that saw him win every round against the experienced Serhii Ksendzov.

Promoter Mark Neilson said “Ksendzov is an experienced fighter, and has scored a few KO upsets, so we knew Tosin had to stay focused. We saw a far more measured performance this time out and it’s clear to see he’s listening to his coach, Mehdi Bellarbi, and is improving each fight.

Featherweight Elizabeth Oshoba delivered an outstanding performance, showcasing the talent that took her to a silver medal in last year’s Commonwealth Games. Her opponent, Kirsty Hill, an experienced amateur and formerly undefeated professional was her toughest test but was outclassed by the speed and quality of Elizabeth’s work.

Hill showed a great engine but this wasn’t enough as Elizabeth was taken to 6 rounds for the first time in her career, with a record of 4-0 (3KO’s) Promoter Neilson said titles won’t be too far away.

Manager Sean Murray said “I’m proud of both of them, they are 100% committed, are miles away from home and their family but are completely dedicated to going as far as they can. I’m sure they’ll be fighting for titles this year, they are starting to get noticed and there are some big fights ahead for both of them
