Boxing in 2023 is back with a bang and ourselves at Neilson Boxing have decided that it’s our turn to get in on the act.
After what was an incredible breakthrough year for us in 2022 we’ve decided that there is no better way than to push on from those achievements and deliver what we consider to be a “Fight of the Year” contender as early as March.
Look no further than the formidable boxing dance duo of Quaise Khademi and Ijaz Ahmed. You only have to trace back slightly in recent history to see that fireworks, drama and any other proverb you can muster fits the billing of this now touted quadrilogy. Both men have been almost inseparable in the previous three fights with 2 draws and majority decision going the way of Ahmed in the first encounter. Needless to say the 2 proceeding draws left the on watching crowd entertained and breathless with the talent on display.
This March 3rd at York Hall remains the final bout, the final decision and an answer to this ongoing saga. Throw into the mix a currently vacant British Flyweight/Commonwealth Titles and we have ourselves an absolute spectacle of a fight you simply do not want to miss.
A crossroads, a spring board, whatever you name it this fight leaves the victor with a pathway of no boundaries.
If that fight wasn’t enough we will also be hosting the vacant IBO European Super Welter Title with the return of Liverpudlian knockout specialist Jack McGann. With an exciting 2022 behind him McGann will need to be at his scintillating best against vastly experienced Hungarian Laszlo Toth.
Toth will be fully confident of coming away with the IBO European belt firmly wrapped around his waist with 39 fights to his name and an impressive 19 wins by way of knockout. But, as we’ve come to learn, McGann will have nothing but victory firmly placed on his mind with this fight set to propel him from prospect to champion overnight in the boxing ranks.
More straps will be on offer with Harry Mullins vs Paul Roberts for the Southern Area Flyweight Title. Mullins “The H Man” fighting out of Southwarks Churchills Boxing Gym and trained by his father is quickly gaining a reputation as a gifted and exciting boxer with 6 wins coming from his first 6 professional outings. Paul Roberts poses a true test in this Southern Area Title fight which shows great testament to Neilson Boxing promotor Mark Neilson for delivering this opportunity so early in Mullins career.
In a domestic division tipped with fantastic prospects Mullins will look to move quickly and show an impressive performance to a bumper crowd at York Hall.
Everyone likes a decent middleweight contest and on March 3rd we have a fight that typifies the meaning “barnstormer”. Billy Underwood vs Tom Brennan could well be a contender for “Fight of the Night” slipping the radar on a card filled with big names. With both fighters in need of a busy and fast start to 2023 the winner will undoubtedly push themselves into the forefront of plans for 2023.
Other fights on the card include outings for South Londoner Joshua Nelson looking to make up for lost time in the super light division and exciting prospect George Ellis seeking to increase his stock to 3-0 having made his boxing debut only last October with Neilson Boxing.
The big city lights of London are calling on 3rd March at the prestigious York Hall, for many the home of boxing & quickly becoming the scene for Fight Town classics.
